**** Nana Simopoulos' original music artfully blends sounds and textures from around the world.~ Her work draws on influences ranging from Ralph Towner to Dead Can Dance, from Joni Mitchell to Vilayat Khan.~ She plays the 19-stringed Indian sitar, the Greek Byzantine-style bouzouki and sings in Greek, English, Yoruba and Hindi .~ Nana'smost recent CD, Daughters Of The Sun, hit #1 on the New Age and World radio charts. She has performed as a soloist on sitar with the New York City Opera and the RAI Symphony Orchestra in Torino, Italy.~ She has written numerous commissions for dance companies such as the Joffrey Ballet and American Dance Festival.
